About

When I teach, I aim to deliver varied and therapeutic classes whilst encouraging students to weave the principles of yoga (and as much joy as possible) into their everyday lives!

I am registered as a Senior Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals and I have completed 300 hours Teacher Training with Ashtanga Yoga Paris, 200 hours TT with Brian Cooper at Union Yoga in Edinburgh and 40 hours TT with David Swenson. The teacher who influences my teaching most is David Keil of Yoganatomy with whom I have consistently studied and practised over the past ten years. As well as attending numerous workshops, retreats and Mysore weeks with David, I have completed his Advanced Teacher Training and in-depth anatomy course. I have completed further trainings with other internationally recognised teachers including Chuck Miller and Kino MacGregor and Teen Yoga Teacher Training with Teen Yoga. I have studied at KPJAYI in Mysore and I am currently immersed in further studies at Brighton University in counselling and psychotherapy.

I often work alongside and welcome professionals from the fields of yoga, anatomy, education, psychology and philosophy to share their expertise at The Yoga Thread.

I am a qualified primary school teacher. I have taught in schools (and yoga studios) around the globe - from Scotland to Sri Lanka, Borneo to Bristol.

Yoga is as strong as you make it and takes you as deep as you are willing to go.

What my students say

“I started my journey of practicing yoga with Louise. I could not have hoped for a more patient and knowledgeable teacher.  Louise struck a delicate balance between challenging me and making the practice accessible for beginners. My fellow students and I always remarked how we left her class feeling relaxed and accomplished, no matter the energy we brought with us to the class.

It’s amazing to see how far she helped me to progress in the practice in such a short period of time. I look forward to continuing my yoga journey and I’m forever grateful to have Louise to help guide me.”

— Rachel

“Louise helped me to understand the different elements of yoga, not just the physical practice. I’m not good at sitting still and never thought I would enjoy or be able to be calm or still enough to practice meditation, but Louise has introduced this to the class slowly and it’s now something I benefit from regularly.

Louise got me to think more about yoga now as a way of life not just a class to attend and the more I do it the more it is helping in all aspects of my life. I can’t imagine my life without it now!”

— Suzy

“As a teacher Louise has enabled me to explore yoga in ways I did not know was possible. After years of practising yoga, Louise opened the door to Ashtanga and I have not looked back.

With her knowledge and skills she gives you the confidence to push yourself physically and mentally. I thank her every time I practise (as much as she hates the praise) and I encourage all my friends, family and patients to try Ashtanga Yoga.”

— Laura

“A yogi is one who leaves a place just a little nicer than when they arrived.”

— David Swenson
